BC Lions follow Cougars lead

Russell Brewing to be the Official Beer of the BC Lions
Andrew Harris, president of Russell Brewing Company announced today that the reigning Grey Cup champion - the BC Lions Football Club has agreed to make the local brewery the Official Beer of the BC Lions and BC Place.
In his address to the media this morning, Harris made special reference to the Vancouver Cougars and thir President Tony Cooper for helping ink the deal with the Lions.
We are extremely proud to support the BC Lions. They have an incredible team with devoted fans and it is an absolute privilege to align with them. This is the 2nd club we have signed in our major push to get the brand into National sporting teams. Earlier this year we made what we believe to be our most significant signing by securing the rights to sponsor the Vancouver Cougars. There is no doubt that when the BC Lions heard of this move and saw what a successful impact we have made down in Cougartown, it made there decision to change brands a lot easier
Lions’ president and CEO, Bob Ackles confirmed as much during his address. I am very pleased to have Russell Brewing Company join our roster of partners. We’re always looking at innovative ways to increase customer satisfaction at BC Lions games. When our management discovered that the Vancouver Cougars Board had already adopted Russell as a sponsor, we knew we couldn't go wrong. We have a lot of respect for the decisions made by the Vancouver Cougars Board, and only last week Cougars President Tony Cooper and I were discussing as much over a fine Cognac at the Vancouver Club.
